Soft Cover, 8vo, in green paper wraps with titles printed to front and spine, 78 pp. Condition: Very Good Minus.Sunning to wraps, occasional stain within, bright and firm. Felt pen to cover and one page in text.**This offprint of the log of the original journey taken by the Author in 1885, tells the story of a hunting exploration of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands area, off the south-west coast. Pierce's sloop, the Bonton, was hired by "an old Frenchman," M. Le Chevalier, for the purpose of collecting pelican and flamingo skins and plumes. They end up hunting, camping, sailing through squalls, fighting alligators and negotiating injuries in the wilds. A fellow vessel contains a taxidermist.**The Author of this log, Charles William Pierce (1864-1939) settled in newly-incorporated Boynton, Florida with his parents, having relocated via Maine and Illinois. He was home-schooled, and an avid hunter as well as Postmaster. William B. Robertson rounds out the publication with a list of the ornithological specimens mentioned in the text.
