This is a complete, flexible introductory program to present the fundamentals of the Japanese language primarily to university students. This textbook is very much concerned with the learner's level of proficiency in using Japanese for realistic, communicative purposes. At the end of Nakama 1, the successful learner's proficiency level should reach a basic survival level that roughly corresponds to the Novice High level of proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign languages.

Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Book is clean with a square, tight binding and bright pages. Book has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans, including a book length crease on front cover and several pages in and a faded spine. A Mystery Novel of the Month 9 (no. 27) From the start Andy seemed to sense we were going to run into trouble that night. A nameless uneasiness possessed him. Twice before we left home he asked me if I were sure I wanted to go to the theater. I took it as a joke both times because I had nagged for months and it was the last chance to see Mida King in She Lands on Her Feet. Saturday, the sixteenth of April it was, the show to end its Broadway run after that night's performance. I had wanted to see She Lands on Her Feet more than I'd ever wanted to see any show. The MacVeighs, however, did not emerge from the toils of a murder investigation before the first spring thaw. Last October Andy, headquarters man in the police force of the New York, Chicago and Western Railroad, solved the murder of Winthrop Mason in Slocum, New York, almost single-handed. Because I'm Andy's wife and was in on the kill I got a small slice of the credit. But by the same token I shared the grim months of testimony that followed, months in which musical comedies and all the brighter things in life were barred from us. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more? When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Highly desirable and scarce. Measuring 6.5 x 8.5 inches, this book packs quite a wallop. Not only did its distinctive author win the Newberry twice, including for this wonderful book, she also has the distinction of this book being banned in numerous schools and libraries--a ludicrous example of censorship for a brilliant story about courage and children's and women's rights, making it controversial in the most admirable way. This Very Good+ condition first edition is dated 1958 on both the title and copyright pages, with no additional dates noted, which indicates a true first. The Very Good condition dust jacket is complete but with several closed tears and a very small piece missing from right-front-bottom of the jacket. The front flap is price-clipped, but the rear the flap has $3.50 price and describes another Speare title, Callico Captive.
