First Edition
First edition. Numerous illustrations ,197 pages. Shows the steps needed to build a firm foundation on which the psycho-spiritual transformation can be made using G.I. Gurdjieff's remarkable Fourth Way. Gurdjieff contended that no one could start the path of transformation unless they had learned to successfully cope with ordinary life - and by their practical shrewdness support twenty other people. Taking this as his starting point Lawrence explains that each candidate for transformation has to find his or her own path to becoming Gurdjieff's 'good obyvatel' --able to descern truth from fantasy. Gurdjieff's own writing and his recorded life give firm indications of the preparation needed. On this the author has created a new method of rapid advancement based on his own practical application of Gurdjieff's ideas in the world of commerce and the arts. Lawrence uses the art in woodcuts, etchings and other media effectively to illustrate his points in the book of the roles man may play to perfect his own life for his higher aims. Paperback in very good condition.
