Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Oversized hardcover in slipcase. Salmon colored boards with gold lettering and decoration. Matching slipcase. 285 pages. Page edges gilt. Color illustrations throughout. This is number 181 of a limited edition. It is signed on the half title page by the President of Iceland, Vigdis Finnbogadottir, and by Queen Sonja of Norway. There is a letter tucked inside with explanation. It is a letter to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution thanking him for his in an exhibition and discussion. It says that the King and President were both grateful & that this book is a token of their appreciation. The letter is signed by the Ambassadors of both Iceland and Norway. There is another letter tucked inside, dated a month later, which was delivered with the book itself (the first letter says the book will be arriving shortly). The book is in excellent condition, issued with a clear plastic dustjacket that has some wear at the edges. Both letters are dated late 1991. The President of Iceland (Vigdis Finnbogadottir) was the first woman elected president of any country, when she was elected in 1980. She served 4 terms.
