HARDCOVER. 1839, First edition. A near fine copy that has been sumptuously rebound in maroon full leather with gilt emblems to both boards. The spine has 5 raised bands, gilt decoration and a red leather title panel with gilt lettering. New endpapers. This copy was an authors presentation copy and apart from age tanning of the edges the contents are unmarked and undamaged. This copy appears to be the variant without the folding map but does have a facsimile of the original map loosely tipped in. A superb copy. Scans available if required.
