Book
Paperback. Condition: New. This book consists of five previously published essays that have been brought together for the first time: "Second-Hand Things," "The Second Crop," "Second Fiddles," "Our Second Wind" and "Second Thoughts." F. W. Boreham draws profound meaning from each of these "second" themes. There are 12 pages of front matter, which include an introduction to F. W. Boreham written for this book by Ravi Zacharias, a preface by Geoff Pound and a contents page. The back of the book has a word "About the Cover" and a "Biographies of Referenced Personalities" section. This is a great introduction to the writings of F. W. Boreham. It starts with what he means to Ravi Zacharias. It also includes the outstanding essay, "The Second Crop," a delightful story that illustrates an obscure biblical text about possessing your possessions. Our first crop comes when we acquire something. The second crop comes when one makes use of it. It's one thing to own a piano; it's another to learn how to play it. This essay alone makes the book worthwhile, but each has its nuggets of truth that Boreham unearths in his typical warm manner.

Book
Paperback. Condition: New. F. W. Boreham writes, "A king-maker occupies a more exalted eminence than a king. And in that (Victorian) age of crisis and transformation there were many kingly spirits who gratefully confessed that, but for Mr. Spurgeon's ministry -- in public or in private -- their own contribution to the nations' development would have been negligble." The complete foreword, written by Boreham for a friend's book, and from which the preceding is an extract, opens this book which gives tribute to C. H. Spurgeon. There is a little redundancy in Boreham's three sermons, one lecture and an essay, but the portrait he paints of Spurgeon more than makes up for any repetition. A preface by Geoff Pound and two introductory essays about Spurgeon and his college by Steve Miller, a Harvest House editor, provides context for a book that is not only biographical but inspiring. Spurgeon's Christ-centered focus and passion for souls are invigorating. The total page count is 92 (23 roman numeral pages followed by 69 numbered pages). Get to know this giant of a man through the eyes of F. W. Boreham and a few admirers.

Soft cover. Condition: New. Of all that could be said of F. W. Boreham, remarkable praise came from a non-Christian family friend. After reading Boreham?s loving tribute to a mentor, this friend said, ?What I liked so much about the book is that it gets its points across by examples rather than preaching. Each chapter leaves its message.? The same could be said of this book. Written in his 83rd year, Boreham?s mastery of subject and style beautifully enfold the rich meaning found in this beloved psalm.

Book
Soft cover. Condition: New. If the life of the ordinary person is a nugget of romance, what a literary goldmine the life of the extraordinary person should prove (F. W. Boreham, The Mercury, 9 December 1933). In Nuggets of Romance F. W. Boreham mines truth and applies wisdom from brief biographical sketches of well- and lesser-known individuals. He shows once again that true spirituality is magnificently inclusive of every aspect of life. Having been published previously as newspaper articles, this is the first time these essays are together in a book.

Book
Soft cover. Condition: New. Dr. Geoff Pound's "Making Life Decisions: Journey in Discernment," is a workbook and travel guide for people wanting to make a forty-day journey in discernment. The book, which draws on down-to-earth biblical principles, is written for seekers, believers, doubters and specifically for those at a vocational crossroads. "Making Life Decisions" also contains seven group studies for people who want to take this trip with another person or with a small group. This can be used as a resource for a church exploring this theme over a short period by means of an integrated process of personal reflection, small group studies and worship services. "Making Life Decisions" is the author's response to the one question he has been asked more than any other in thirty years of local church, denominational and seminary leadership: 'How can I know God's will for my life or in this situation?'Geoff Pound says, "This is the book I wish I had been able to give every person that asked that question, to help them find their paths." This may be the most helpful book that we have published since it deals in depth with the subject of guidance. Rather than providing steps to know the will of God, through story and illustration it equips readers to discern God's leading as they make their way through life. Those of you who like F. W. Boreham will appreciate the many quotations and illustrations found in this book. There is a wealth of potential sermon material. Twenty Roman numeral pages precede 222 pages. These are spiral-bound with a hard plastic coil to make it easier to write. Please consider checking out the books we publish by F. W. Boreham.
