Seller: Molly's Brook Books, Conway, MA, U.S.A.
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. VG-. Wrappers generally clean with some light handling and edgewear, and trace evidence of dampness to the beam ends of the bottom edge. The spine is cocked a bit and has coved or guttered slightly in the middle, causing the paper to subside a millimeter and pull away from its lamination. This has allowed some discoloration to get under the lamination on the bottom third of the spine, while the lamination itself shows reading creases and a small chip of loss at the spine heel (not so the paper). In addition, there is a circular label bearing "HS" taped to the spine heel. Internally, no names, underlining, highlighting, marks, or dogears. The binding seems to be holding up quite well. Pages are clean and clear, with little if any toning and gentle foxing to top and fore edges. Altogether it sounds worse than it is. The book appears to be a rather salacious (or what used to pass for salacious) overview of lesbianism through the ages and around the world, as reading material for businessmen on marketing junkets. Some of the chapter titles: Split Level Sapphists, The Village Deviate, Canadian Capers, Carnality in the Caribbean, Behind the Ironical Curtain, The Aberrant Arabs, The Lesbians of Chung-Hua Jen-Min Kung-Ho Kuo, and The Globe Girdled (you get the idea). With four B/W plates that wouldn't make a vicar blush. This copy from the second printing thus, August 1966 -- clearly a far less blasé time.
