Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Published in 1960, this is a first printing of STRAVINSKY, which "consists mainly of a detailed analysis of almost every work by Stravinsky, from the Symphony in E flat written in the early years of the (twentieth) century to the most recent of his compositions. The biographical background is sketched in, but the book concentrates on the works rather than the life. Special attention is paid to Stravinsky's later works, about which little is at present available. Of this work Stravinsky said: "I am convinced that this is the best study of any music which has yet appeared in any country of the world." Translated from the Italian by Frederick and Ann Fuller. Fine, in gray cloth boards, in near-fine, unclipped (minor chipping to spine top and fold ends, but clean, intact and very presentable considering age) mylar-protected dust jacket. NF62.
