Demy Octavo, [20cm/8inches], full gilt-embossed cloud-blue cloth w/ mylar-protected dust jacket, pp. 248. . Dr. Chapman was a fisheries biologist and administrator at the University of Washington. He obtained his degrees from the University of Washington. Between 1933 and 1942 he worked as biologist for the International Fisheries Commission, Washington State Department of Fisheries, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. From 1942 to 1947 he was Curator of Fishes for the California Academy of Sciences and in 1943-1944 was Fishery Development Officer in the Central and South Pacific war theaters for the Board of Economic Warfare. Dr. Chapman was director of the School of Fisheries at the University of Washington in 1947-1948. He served with the State Department from 1948 to 1951 as assistant to the Undersecretary of State for Fish and Wildlife. From 1951 to 1959 he was Director of Research for the American Tunaboat Association and from 1959 to 1961 was director of the Resources Committee. From 1961 to 1968 he was the director of Division of Resources at the Van Camp Sea Food Company. From 1968to 1969 he served as Director, Marine Resources, Ralston Purina Company (of which Van Camp Sea Food Company is now a division). He served as chairman of the Working Party on Fishery Oceanography, Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research, International Council of Scientific Unions, as well as many other panels and committees.
