First Edition
First Edition. Octavo. First printing. 74 pages. Inscribed by the author. Illustrated. Don Weibert who with his father were Montana ranchers and whose property adjoined the Little Big Horn area did a re-ride of the 120-mile march made by the Seventh Cavalry to the Little Big Horn. The book tells the tale of the original and modern rides, including the accidents to men and horses, problems finding adequate food, encounters with unfriendly natives, the difficulty of the night march to the cavalry camp, and the anticipation of great events. With considerable skill and understanding he describes the effects of heat, rain, and fatigue on him and his men. Intended to duplicate not only Custer's route, but also his timetable, the journey shed considerable light on the reasons for the outcome of the battle. Bound in brown cloth letter in gilt, spine lettering gilt. a fine copy in a fine pictorial dust jacket save for a little spots of rubbing to rear panel.
