Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Various (illustrator). First edition. A collection of twenty two works by prolific science fiction writer Poul William Anderson A collection of twenty two works by American fantasy and science fiction author Poul William Anderson. Active from the 1940s until his death at the beginning of the millennium, the prolific writer won seven Hugo Awards and Three Nebula Awards over the course of his career, and was nominated for works included in this set such as The Enemy Stars, The Star Fox, and The Byworlder. Includes first paperback editions of The Byworlder, Orbit Unlimited, Mayday Orbit, The Star Fox, and We Claim These Stars. Includes the first four volumes in the Flandry series. The series reveals around protagonist Dominic Flandry, a dashing field agent of the Imperial Intelligence Corps who travels the stars to fight threats to the 31st century empire. The Star Fox has a price sticker to the front cover, as does Mayday Orbit, which is a reversible volume that also contains 'No Man's World' by Kenneth Bulmer. Mirkheim has a price sticker to the rear cover. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso of the front cover of Orbit Unlimited. Library stamp from Hereford and Worcester County Library to the front endpaper and the title page of The Horn of Time, which has been rebound and has tape support at the first page. The collection includes: We Claim These Stars Mayday Orbit Orbit Unlimited The Star Fox Ensign Flandry The Trouble Twisters The Rebel Worlds A Circus of Hells Byworlder Let The Spacemen Beware Enemy Stars Fire Time The Winter of The World Flandry of Terra Agent of Terran Empire Mirkheim Virgin Planet The Day of Their Return The Knight of Ghosts and Shadows The Avatar The Horn of Time The Boat of a Million Years In the publisher's original paperback binding. Externally, generally smart. Orbit Unlimited and The Horn of Time are a little more worn than the rest of the volumes, with some wear to the joints and extremities. The Horn of Time has been rebacked, and has a tape repair to the first page. The front cover of Ensign Flandry is rather worn, as is the front cover of The Star Fox, and there is a small crease to the bottom corner of the front cover of The Avatar. Some very light wear to the head and tails of the spines, a little more so to the head of Byworlder, the head and tail of the Let the Spaceman Beware, and the tail of The Day of their Return. The Virgin Planet is a little worn at the joints. The front hinge of Orbit Unlimited is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound, except for Orbit Unlimited where the binding is slightly tender. Pages are clean throughout, and vary from bright to moderately age-toned. Very Good. book.
