The first places of accomodation came to Jasper National Park before 1911, they came as the result of railway construction. Hotel Fitzhugh was among these. The Canadian Northern Railway's application for land to build a hotel was pre-dated by the GTPR application of 1911. JASPER PARK LODGE originated in 1922 - a Canadian National project. This 87 page volume deals with such topics as : Point Cabin, Major Fred Brewster, Tent City, a silver totem pole golf trophy, movie stars like Bing Crosby, the fire of 1952, Sky Line Trail Rides, bicycle-waiters, bear-watching buses, fishing, and mountain-climbing guides. Well illustrated with b/w archive photos. 2 MAPS. Cond : Paper wrapper is gold and buff with black letters. Cover graphic is from a 1926 CNR promotional brochure. Edges and corners mostly sharp w/ minor chips and light rubs. No names, marks, creases, nor tears . Colours bright, binding tight ! Al;most giftable ! Quote (p. 68): " One of the jobs unique to the Lodge is that of room-service waiter _. _ on a bicycle. Cold drinks, glasses and ice, and even single hot meals, are carried on a tray --- a performance worthy of a circus act ! At one time other bicycles ._._._. ." Size: 8vo.

It was compiled by the Catholic Women's League and friends, and sponsored by local merchants. Undated circa the late 1970's. The desserts and baked goods look especially promising. Read more about Willmore Wilderness Park and the events of June 5, 1968. Also : Dave Slutker,horse tracks, bull moose, sow, Muddy River and Mt. Hamell. `Salty' Seaman did the painting for the front cover. Among the b/w photographs, the one on page 33, shows the pants and shirt worn by the author the day of the attack. Cond : Paper wrapper is brownie orange with black lettering. Cover art features a foraging mother bear and two cubs. Volume bright, tight, square, and clean. No names nor marks. Minimal wear. Quote (p. 44) : " The grizzly is a most powerful animal, beyond the belief of most people. Along with its savage power, it has been stated that the geizzly is the only animal that reasons.
