First Edition
Bernadette Mayer's contributor copy of this anthology from Dick Higgins' seminal press Something Else , edited by Jan Herman. Here Mayer contributes two pieces alongside a cast of contributors including Clark Coolidge, John Giorno, Siichi Niikuni, Pauline Oliveiros, Frances Picabia, Wolf Vostell, and many more. Laid in is a folded reproduction of the standard typed letter presenting two contributor copies, addressed in pen to Mayer and with a handwritten postscript that reads "P.S. How are you coming with the monster MS? Jan". Given the date, the manuscript in question would be Studying Hunger, to be published in 1975 by Adventures in Poetry and Big Sky. Very Good, some shelf and edge wear, bump to crown and vertical crease to spine (binding unaffected), a few pages dog-eared. Faint dampstain (2 x 1/2 in) to top of rear wrap bleeds into last few pages Perfect-bound [octavo] in printed wrappers. 235 pp.
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. Fine first edition in yellow cloth in fine unclipped dustwrapper and fine wrap-around band. This copy has a full page INSCRIPTION from fellow Something Else Press writer Dick Higgins to front endpaper. Higgins is writing to Ed Freedman asking him to review this title. Nice association copy.
