Original Wraps. Condition: Good. Stapled wraps; 18 pages. Crude black-and-white illustration resembling old-fashioned science fiction art on cover. Reprint; prior copyrights in this form 1957, 1967. Reprinted from "Air Trails" magazine of May 1947. Hubbard used the pseudonym Capt. B.A. Northorp for the original article. According to "Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard" by Russell Miller, Hubbard "could not resist the opportunity for further self-aggrandisement" when he wrote the original article. "In a section discussing the technical problems of reaching the moon by rocket, he wrote: `Here and there throughout the world many men have been thinking about rockets for some time. I recall that in 1930, L. Ron Hubbard, a writer and engineer, developed and tested -- but without fanfare -- a rocket motor considerably superior to the V-2 instrument of propulsion and rather less complicated.'" These sentences do not appear in this reprint. Colorful Church of Scientology ownership bookplate affixed to inside front cover (no prior owne name). Light wear, soil to covers. Two inkstamps ( Institute address and open house announcement) to title page below title; small price sticker at upper title page. Interior otherwise clean and intact.
