Originally published in the US by Doubleday in 1959 under the title A Medicine for Melancholy. There are a few light dents to the bottom edge of the front panel and slight edge wear but the boards are otherwise clean and unmarked. Browning to the page edges with a little spotting to the top edges. Previous owner's name in pen at the top of the front free endpape but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The jacket has browning to the spine which has the volume number 44 in pen and a little chipping at the top and bottom. The front panel has two one inch closed tears to the top edge and there is a little chipping along the edges and at the corners of the jacket. Jacket design by Cecil W. Bacon.

Draft script for three television films, one unproduced. The script includes three screenplays based on Bradbury's short stories, one unproduced, and two which aired on the HBO television series "The Ray Bradbury Theater," 1985-1992. The first, "A Medicine for Melancholy," is a Draft script, circa 1983, based on the 1959 short story, and is unproduced. The second, "Marionettes, Inc.," is a Draft script, dated July 21, 1983, based on the 1949 short story, and was aired as episode one, season one of "The Ray Bradbury Theater," on May 21, 1985. The third, "The Playground," is a Draft script, circa 1983, based on the short story first published as part of Bradbury's 1953 novel "Fahrenheit 451," and was aired as episode two, season one of "The Ray Bradbury Theater," on June 4, 1985. Front wrapper integral with the title page, with credits for screenwriter and author Ray Bradbury. 89 leaves, with last page of text numbered 25. Xerigraoguc duplication, rectos only.
