Hard Cover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good w/ Protective Cover. First Edition. The book is a stone brownish gray with a goldenrod spine. On the spine the title and author are written in brick red and the publisher is in gold. The end papers are a brighter shade of the color of the spine. The only reason the book didn't receive an "as new" for its condition was its faint musty smell. It certainly looks as good as new. The jacket has an acrylic cover. It's a mustard color with a picture of a male marionette on the cover. The title and author are both in yellow. The only reason the jacket didn't receive an "as new" is the bending at the ends. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. An Accidental Man was written by Iris Murdoch. The book was published by The Viking Press in 1972 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as such. The book is an ex-library copy and both the book and the dust jacket are in very good condition but for the library markings. "This is a tale of fatal good intentions, of comic-tragic muddle, and of the long, obscure, fallible struggle of conscientious men. It is also the story of how to live and be blessed by egoism alone. It is Murdoch's longest and most brillian novel, very serious, very funny." Thank you!.

Front flap creased ; A bright, solid book. Dust jacket in Mylar jacket protector. Yellow topstain ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 442 pages; "Set in the time of the Vietnam War, this story concerns the plight of a young American, happily installed in a perfect job in England, engaged to a wonderful girl and who is suddenly drafted to a war he disapproves of. What is duty here, what is self-interest, what is cowardice? Austin Gibson Grey, the accidental man of the title, is accident-prone, also prone to bring disaster to his friend and relations. He blames fate. But are we not all accidental, one of his victims asks. Fate and accidents make deep moral dilemmas for the characters in the long and complex tale.".
