Condition: Fair. First Edition. 259 pages. No dust jacket. Decorative blue cloth with gilt lettering. Contains black and white photographic plates with 4 folded maps to rear. Noticeable cracking to rear hinge causing board to be loose. Binding remains firm. Pages are lightly tanned with mild foxing throughout. Faint dust marks to gutters. Stamp to top edge of front endpaper, half title and title pages. Mild tanning to plates. Folded maps are in good condition with minor wear to edges. Boards have noticeable edge wear with corner bumping. Visible tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Small splits to corners and spine ends causing cloth to be slightly frayed. Faint black marks to rear with small ink drops. Book has a slight forward lean.

Quarto sized in blue cloth lettered in gilt and with gilt decoration of biplane in flight. 259 pps. with index. 32 monochrome photographic plates (mostly aerial views and including dirigibles) and four folding plates at rear. Important early work focusing on peacetime aviation. While the gilt stamping is still bright, this copy regretably has dampstaining to the lower 1" of the cloth extending upwards along the spine and front gutter edge an additional 2". There is evidence of damp along the lower edge of the text block tho' this is confined to the lower margins of pages and plates and does not extend to the text.
