This important history of the RAF in WWI is founded in the records of the Historical Section of the Air Ministry. This series was published irregularly in 9 volumes between 1922-1937. This history begins with the first free flight of an aeroplane (1903) and continues through the creation of the Royal Air Force, and the earliest air battles of World War I, including airships, dirigibles.
