No Binding. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Original colour book illustrations rescued from a dis bound book that could not be saved. plates size 5in x 7in (12.7 x 17.78 cm ) mounted and ready for framing with 1in or 2in bevel cut ivory mount by Susan Beatrice Pearse. Mounted print measures 7in x 9in (17.78 x 22.86 cm). They were rescued from a 1920 first edition of 'Ameliaranne and the Green Umbrella'. Colours are vivid and plates are in fine condition. We have a total of 7 plates available from this book. About the Artist Susan Beatrice Pearse was a London born artist who was best known for her gorgeous illustrations of Ameliaranne and it can be said that the real strength and the source of their lasting appeal are her charming illustrations. The text is quite limited in the books and the narrative is largely carried by the very effective and expressive illustrations. She died in 1980 aged 101. Provenance 'Ameliaranne and the Green Umbrella' is a wonderful children's book by Constance Heward first published in 1920. The eponymous heroine, whose family is very poor, goes to a party and tries to bring back all of her food; cakes, tangerines and sweets, hidden in her umbrella to feed her ailing brothers and sisters. These plates are taken from a first printing of the first book in the series of 20.
