In the accompanying Epilogue he summarises the literary history of the poem, and indicates its place in Greek literature. The book is bound in the original limp olive-green full leather covered boards with gold titling and designs on the spine and a blind stamped gold emblem on the front board. The book is in very good condition with a little light scuffing to the leather on the boards and slight fading to the spine. Hardcover. Condition: As New. THE BOOK IS MADE TO ORDER AND IT TAKES 2 TO 4 WEEKS FOR IT TO BE READY FOR SHIPPING *****SIZE - 8 x 5.5 inches (21 x 13.5 cm). *****EDITION - 2 of 100, initialed and numbered. *****If you are interested in a different title, send me a message and I will give you a quote.*****Book's original ISBN 978-0143106869*****Books, as much as experiences, change my life, and I decided to make a limited collection of all the books I read and loved. And maybe you also will find in my collection a book that you enjoyed, and it even might have influenced your life.*****The book is a soft cover which I recycle and transform into a limited edition, personalized hardback with leather cover, designed and made by me. First, I prepare the book by embedding cotton cords into the spine. Adding 2 mm wood boards to the front and back. And reinforcing everything with cloth. To make the cover I use grade A, naturally tanned hide, I buy from a tannery in north Spain. It is the same leather Louis Vuitton uses to make his bags, so it is top quality. I do all the processing of the leather myself. First, I design the cover, and for this I used a painting by Salvator Rosa, Jason slaying a monster, while looking for golden fleece. It could be argued it is Saint George slaying a dragon, but Rosa's paintings of Jason were very similar to this one. And I thought it nicely represented Jason and his adventures. Next, I mix leather inks and screen them on the surface of the leather. The inks are partly absorbed by the skin to create a permanent bond. Finally, I coat the leather with protective solution. The leather gives the image a vintage look and beautiful texture, and it will age nicely with time. Inside the front cover. I can print a personal message or a quote from the book. The book is beautiful. Visually it has a very nice texture, it smells great, and the more you handle it the more beautiful it will become. And it makes a great gift for yourself, or somebody who appreciates books. So if you want one, don't snooze, or you might lose.*****RETURNS: This is a custom-made item, so returns or exchanges are not accepted. But you can contact me if there is any problem with your order. *****COLORS: Since I make each item to order, the color might vary from the pictures. It depends on how the inks mix and how they react with leather. *****SHIPPING: I make each item to order, and it takes a few weeks, since I need to find the book first. I go to the post office once a week. Estimated delivery time is about two weeks, but it depends on the postal service and customs. And occasionally there are delays, and it might take a month or so to arrive.

Now in a riveting new verse translation, Jason and the Argonauts (also known as the Argonautica) is the only surviving full account of Jason's voyage on the Argo in quest of the Golden Fleece aided by the sorceress princess Medea. Written in the third century B.C., this epic story of one of the most beloved heroes of Greek mythology, with its combination of the fantastical and the real, its engagement with traditions of science, astronomy and medicine, winged heroes, and a magical vessel that speaks, is truly without parallel in classical or contemporary Greek literature and is now available in an accessible and engaging translation. For more than seventy years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators. Apollonius of Rhodes (Ancient Greek: Ἀπολλώνιος Ῥόδιος Apollṓnios Rhódios; Latin: Apollonius Rhodius; fl. first half of 3rd century BC) was an ancient Greek author, best known for the Argonautica, an epic poem about Jason and the Argonauts and their quest for the Golden Fleece. The poem is one of the few extant examples of the epic genre and it was both innovative and influential, providing Ptolemaic Egypt with a "cultural mnemonic" or national "archive of images",[1] and offering the Latin poets Virgil and Gaius Valerius Flaccus a model for their own epics. His other poems, which survive only in small fragments, concerned the beginnings or foundations of cities, such as Alexandria and Cnidus places of interest to the Ptolemies, whom he served as a scholar and librarian at the Library of Alexandria. A literary dispute with Callimachus, another Alexandrian librarian/poet, is a topic much discussed by modern scholars since it is thought to give some insight into their poetry, although there is very little evidence that there ever was such a dispute between the two men. In fact almost nothing at all is known about Apollonius and even his connection with Rhodes is a matter for speculation.[2] Once considered a mere imitator of Homer, and therefore a failure as a poet, his reputation has been enhanced by recent studies, with an emphasis on the special characteristics of Hellenistic poets as scholarly heirs of a long literary tradition writing at a unique time in history.[3].
