Thomas Neal (1773-1850) was a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, merchant who was born in Ireland and came to America around 1790. He was part of a family that dealt in dry goods. In this letter to his brother Charles, Thomas Neil writes that he would prefer that Charles send him the $1000 he has available as opposed to investing it in cargo. Neil also does some strategizing about what options he might take if a certain Rogers tries to have him arrested because of a business claim against him. Signed by Author(s).
