Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Rebound in red boards with gilt type, with the battered and darkened old spine glued to the new spine. The re-binding has some small spots of soil, darkened on the top edge, bumping on the corners and edges, but the text is unmarked and quite nice, save for some staining on the top edge of the text block. In short, the book looks like it might have actually been used by someone repairing bicycles.

First edition, 3rd thousand, of this exceedingly scarce bicycle repair guide and handbook, published at the height of the bicycle fad at the end of the 19th century in the United States. The author has detailed the necessary equipment, tools, blacksmithing and mechanical engineering techniques, as well as how to manage a bicycle shop.
