Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. very good condition original drawings and paintings by Robert Roche; original drawings and paintings by Robert Roche; LIB2958012720; The book is a mock-up copy with some text and lots of blank pages and some illustrations. The letter is from Josua B. Powers (his name is on title page) and discusses Mark Twain. The last paragraph is thus: "I am mailing you an item for your collection, an uncompleted sample of a boog that never appeared. Much work was done on it by my friend, and your fellow Missourian, Leonard Gold. My name was on the title page as publisher, but the book was designed for Harper's, which finally decided against the considerable investment. Only a few of these presentation dummies exist." The book was published by University of Oklahoma, though the writer doesn' t mention it. It is a bit confusing but I think his reference is to the fact that it was not published by Harpers as presented by him and Mr. Gold.It is a good collector's item.
