Color frontispiece and hundreds of in-text wood engravings. This was a lavishly produced series for young adults with a wealth of information on various cultures. Contemporary inscription on fly leaf. Toning to spine, wear to spine ends, light soiling to covers and edges. The front hinge is a bit weak but still a solid copy. Internally clean with some pencil markings near title lists. Very good-. ; Large Octavo.

Knox's books for juveniles, the Boy Travellers series, are full of geography, ethnography, history -- all constructed around the adventures of the two boys and their father. This was the last of the series. Knox was a Denver newspaperman, a Civil War correspondent, then a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald and general world traveller. Bound in very decorative publisher's binding, gilt and red Aztec designs. Fine copy of this.
