The pastedown with the delightful 4 boys on the front is also in good condition. So many times you find the pastedown torn or badly scoffed. While this pastedown has some slight shelf wear, overall it is in extremely good condition for its age. First page has a gift inscription dated 1918 in ink. Beautiful color illustrations throughout by Bertha L. Corbett. Some slight browning of pages. 123 pp. Pages are a thicker almost cardboard type paper; strong and hearty throughout the years making this book so collectible and desirable. No dust jacket. Cloth over boards remains quite bright and unfaded; color plate has illustration of four boys in overalls. May be very slightly faded, but is clear and, like cloth, quite bright for its age. A bit of bumping along head and foot of spine, causing some fraying to cloth there. Corners remain sharp and tight. Scarce DJ with illustration of four boys is protected by Brodart cover and in fair condition. About four inches of spine on DJ is missing, with chipping along edges overall. Although DJ does appear quite worn, it is present and hard to find. Inside contents are in good, readable condition. Pages free of marks or tears, with color illustrations throughout. Binding is strong. A good, readable copy with scarce DJ.
