Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Red boards with gilt title. Corners and top/bottom of spine are worn. Hinges front and back are cracked. Previous owner (?) made an beautifully lettered inscription on the front fly leaf. There is a pencil price noted and sticker residue on the top corner of the front flyleaf. Slight soiling on corner of page block. Inside pages clean. This is a good reading copy if care is taken when handling the cover hinges. Inscription reads: "Swepson Earle, Chesapeake Bay, June 13, 1929. Compliments of [illegible] Miller, resident- June 12/29" It is signed/inscribed by two different pens and hands so it is possible it is a signature. Shelf: B-3.

Red binding with gold stamping on front cover and spine in very good condition, with some very slight wear on covers and some light discoloration on spine header. Slightly bumped spine foot and header. Some tearing and light discoloration on gutters between front and back end-papers and free end-papers due to front and back board pulling away slightly from text-block. Pictorial DJ present and in fair condition considering its age, with wear, discoloration, and numerous tears on covers and spine. Top portion of DJ spine is torn off and there is tearing along edgings of covers. DJ is protected from any further damage by a clear mylar DJ cover (there are some small tears on mylar cover). 522 pages. Title page dated 1938, with original publication date of 1923. Contains numerous black and white photographs throughout, as well as two fold-out maps (one black and white, one in color). Although the binding is somewhat delicate and the DJ is worn and torn, this copy is still in very good condition for its age. Text-block binding is good and tight. Pages clean and square.
