The sermon is accompanied by an appendix and historical footnotes. There is text inside both wrappers and the 24th Psalm on the verso of the rear wrapper. George Washington Doane "had almost inexhaustible energy. He was a remarkably prolific writer, took an active role in the affairs of the American Episcopal Church, and lived in the grand manner of an English prelate" (Felcone).
