Original Green Cloth Hardcover. Condition: Very Good - See Description. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1973. First edition. xii, 552pp. This is volume 5 in the publisher's 'Colonialism in Africa' series. It aims to provide a bibliographic reference tool for all researchers concerned with the historical, political, societal and related problems of colonialism in Africa from about 18709 to 1960. It covers publications which appeared up to the end of 1969 in detail, but also includes the more important contributions published up to early 1972. The volume is organised in three parts. Part I 'Guide to Reference Materials', surveys libraries and archives in Western Europe, the United States and Africa. Part II is a 'Subject Guide' to the literature on history, anthropology, geography, religion, etc. Part III, an 'Area Guide', is arranged by colonial power, region and country. A long introductiuon surveys Europe's efforts to learn about Africa and to solve its problems during the colonial period. The book is bound in the original green clkoth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. This is an ex-library copy but with few library indications and is otherwise in very good condition. The case of the book is in very good condition with a slight dent on the bottom edge of the front board. Ther contents are tight and clean and the only library indications appear to be traces of removed labels on the front endpapers; a reference number and small stamp overlaid with a 'withdrawn' stamp on the reverse of the title page; a small stamp on pages 1, 201, 401, 552 and the rear fixed endpaper. There are traces of a removed label on the rear fixed endpaper. It is possible that a small stamp has been missed. The clipped dustwrapper is very good with some shelf wear and bumping to the bottom of the spine. There is a crease along the bottom edge of the back of the wrapper and signs of a removed label with a small stain on the spine. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
