Soft Cover. Condition: Near Fine (see description). Text Cover (illustrator). First Edition. ------------( 1st printing of the First NP Edition ) ---softcover, about 8.5 x 11 inches, a Near Fine copy, # 273 of 2500 (!!) copies signed by Michaud, an oddity (as per Joshi ) as this mentions the 1976 edition of 50 copies and states that 2500 copies of this "printing" were published ( in the 1970's Necro Press wasn't producing anything in those numbers), however as Joshi states this uses the 1976 title page but has a revised copyright page and a slightly different red for the covers, the likelihood is that this 2nd is the earlier edition with those few changes, that earlier edition was supposedly 400 copies although this issue states that there were 50 copies so it is likely that there were never more than 400 copies in total and a goodly number of those may have never been bound, nonetheless a scarce item, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo /// SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)--- Size: 8.5w x 11h Inches. Soft cover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. The 5th publication from Necronomicon Press, being a reprint of an edition of 50 numbered and signed, which I believe were sold at the First World Fantasy Convention in 1976. THE CONSERVATIVE was Lovecraft's own amateur paper. The value of THE CONSERVATIVE to the HPL enthusiast is best summed up by his friend Mr. Frank Belknap Long, who wrote the foreword to this volume, "The HPL I met and talked with at length on his first visit to New York was an infinitely more mellow HPL than the young man of 25 who could write: "Outside the domain of pure literatureTHE CONSERVATIVE will ever be found an enthusiastic champion of total abstinence, and the domination of the English and Kindred races over the lesser divisions of mankind." And later in his introduction, "In the socio-political realm (his) perceptiveness was blunted by the prevailing mores of the period. But otherwise, and even in that realm, there is a total absence of the flabiness of character which has recently been ascribed to him." Limited to 2500 numbered and signed copies, each signed by the publisher, Marc Michaud. As new. Signed by Author(s).

Condition: Very Good. West Warwick, RI: Necronomicon Press, 1977. First Edition, Limited Second Issue. Some foxing to fore-edge and bottom of text block, but interior is clean, bright, and unmarked. Binding is sound. Book
Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Necronomicon Press, West Warwick, RI, 1977. First edition, second printing, 8.5" X 11" sheets stapled in birght red wraps with black printing, 124 pp. Edited by Marc A. Michaud, Foreword by Frank Belknap Long. This copy is #110 and is SIGNED by editjor Michaud. Although stated limitation is 2500 it is thought that only about 400 copies of this edition were actually printed. The first printing was only 50 copies. The Conservative was edited by Lovecraft and contained opinion pieces, poems, and other writings by Lovecraft and others, often of a socio-political nature and very "conservative" in outlook. (HPL changed his opinions considerable later in life but these early pieces are nonetheless interesting and provide insight into many people's attitudes in New England at that time. This copy has some rusting of the staples, some foxing on top edge, and my name-stamp at top of cover. Otherwise a fine, square, mostly unread copy.
