Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. New Edition 8vo (12x18 cms) di 188pp & (4)-192 pp . 2 volumes in one. Handsome recent half brown morocco and marbled boards binding. Very good indeed and clean apart from some worming at edges and at inner gutter but no loss of text. Although the text was presented as a translation by Jean Trichard, the work is indeed by Baron d'Holbach. This history of superstition is a merciless indictment against the persecutions and political and religious tyrannies whatever they were, which caused terror to reign through fear and fanaticism as well as through political ambition. The place of publication was probably Amsterdam rather than London.
