Softcover. Condition: Good. Originally published by Simon and Schuster in 1969, this fine work is based on the personal and professional knowledge of 'corporate oligarchs' of the author, the Chairman of the Board of Ruder, Finn, & Rotman. It presents a candid picture of the corporate oligarch's relation to money, to power, to nepotism, to dreams of dynastic power, to his critics, to politics, to burnishing his own image and that of his company. These are the men who are said to run America, and this is an informed and sometimes suprising report on what runs them.

First Edition Signed
First edition of this classic work by the famed advertising executive. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Bill Safire with warm regards David Finn." The recipient, William Safire, was an important American author, columnist, journalist, and presidential speechwriter. He joined Nixonâs campaign for the 1960 Presidential race, and again in 1968. After Nixonâs 1968 victory, Safire served as a speechwriter for him and Spiro Agnew. He authored several political columns in addition to his weekly column âOn Languageâ in The New York Times Magazine from 1979 until the month of his death and authored two books on grammar and linguistics: The New Language of Politics (1968) and what Zimmer called Safireâs âmagnum opus,â Safireâs Political Dictionary. Safire later served as a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board from 1995 to 2004 and in 2006 was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Jacket design by Fred Toller.
