Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. This volume is signed, dated, and placed by the author inside the front cover as follows: "Nathaniel P. Langford/St. Paul, Minnesota./July 29, 1908. " Underneath his signature is the signature of his wife and their address as follows:" Mrs. N. P. Langford/291 South Exchange St. /St. Paul/Minnesota." In addition it is signed by seven other presumed prominent persons of the day with their addresses; three inside the front cover and four on the ffep. 122 pages. A heavy book for its size which attests to the high quality of the paper. Nathaniel P. Langford was the first superintendent of Yellowstone National Park and was a participant of the Washburn expedition among other accomplishments. The book itself is protected in a clear archival quality cover. The volume has dark blue cloth covers with gold lettering on the spine and front cover and a red embossed emblem at the bottom of the front cover showing two men and a pack animal. On the reverse side of the ffep there is a written quotation ( in writing of this period of the early 20th century ) of Lord Bacon. Slight separation is beginning to occur at the bottom inside the back cover; this is easily repairable. Some wear at top and bottom of spine and at corners. Quite a remarkable work of Yellowstone history which is essentially the diary of the Washburn Expedition to the Yellowstone and Firehole Rivers in the Year 1870. An almost priceless treasure for the Yellowstone devotee, or Western United States history buff. By the Author, His Wife and Ot.
