The text is illustrated with black-and-white line drawings, and at the rear of the book there are 41 black-and-white photographs / illustrations showing examples of both early Christian and Byzantine buildings. Plain blue coloured dustwrapper with brown coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The fifth in the "Great Buildings, And How To Enjoy Them" series, this time dealing with Early Christian and Byzantine architecture showing the distinct characteristics of both. The aim of the series, and this book of course, is at the amateur, so that they can understand the various forms of architecture. Softening of the back strip edges with bumping to the top book corners. Rubbing of the lower book edges and age toning of the text block edges and pages. The photographic reproductions are crisp and clean. Foxing to the top text block edge. Offset tanning to the endpapers and original bookseller's sticker to the lower right hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. There is a 3 inch tear to the lower left hand corner of the front panel and a inch tear to the top right hand corner of the back strip. Sunning of the back strip and patties sunning to the panels. There is a three cornered tear with associated creasing to the front edge of the front panel. Sunning to the edges of the dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
