Ciascuna commedia con proprio frontespizio figurato che rappresenta un imperatore romano con mazza ferrata e scudo. Capilettera silografici. I due esemplari sono completi e in buono stato di conservazione. Interessanti commedie scritte dal poligrafo veneziano Lodovico Dolce, che lavorò per l editore Giolito traducendo e commentando molti autori classici e contemporanei. Proprio quest editore pubblicò nel 1560 l edizione completa delle sue cinque commedie, tra cui certamente spicca Il ruffiano per la scelta della lingua volgare, più comprensibile a un pubblico eterogeneo rispetto al veneziano e al fiorentino.
