Texte in englischer Sprache u.a. von Michael "Bommi" Baumann. Mit 15 ganzseitigen, teils doppelblattgroßen Abbildungen auf Tafeln und zahlreichen teils fotografischen, teils farbigen Abbildungen im Text. Der Zyklus 18. Oktober 1977 besteht aus 15 Gemälden, die Gerhard Richter 1988 malte. Sie sind das Ergebnis seiner Beschäftigung mit der linksradikalen Terrorgruppe Rote-Armee-Fraktion, die seit Beginn der 1970er Jahre in der Bundesrepublik in Unwesen trieb. Der Titel des Zyklus 18. Oktober 1977 meint den Tag, an dem Gudrun Ensslin, Andreas Baader und Jan-Carl Raspe tot in ihren Zellen in Stuttgart-Stammheim aufgefunden wurden. Von Gerhard Richter auf Seite 9 unter der Darstellung "Youth Portrait Jugendbildnis" von Ulrike Meinhof mit schwarzem Stift signiert.
