Truely a notable study of the subject. 398 pages including bibliography, index. 72 b/w photos, 8 figs in text, 17 maps including the endpapers, two double page colour, one fold out. One page plates (facing p190 loose). Red hard covers VG with corners lighty bumped, worn, spine lightly faded, small erosion spot back cover, gilt coin decoration lower front cover. Unobtrusive inked name top front pastedown, neatly repeated top half-title. Text block excellent, occasional very light foxing, mainly adjacent plates.
