Paperback. Condition: NEUF.

Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa(24 November 1864 9 September 1901) was a Frenchpainter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturistandillustratorwh ose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant, and provocative images of the modern, sometimes decadent, affairs of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is among the best-known painters of thePost-Impressionistperiod, withPaul Cézanne,Vincent van Gogh,Paul GauguinandGeorges Seurat. In a 2005 auction atChristie'sauction house,La Blanchisseuse, his early painting of a young laundress, sold for US$22.4million and set a new record for the artist for a price at auction.[1] (Wikipedia) Maurice Joyant replaced Theo Van Gogh at the art gallery Boussod & Valdon after Theo had his nervous breakdown in 1890. Joyant however left Boussod in 1893 because they opposed him in his dealing and support of the Impressionist artists. Joyant's income enabled him to collect an impressive array of works by the Impressionists, which lead him to publish several books, including Lautrec's Peintre et Dessins - Estampes - Affiches published in 1926/27.
