Condition: although bound in its original full-calf binding, this volume has been rebacked quite some time ago. The upper panels of the original spine strip are lacking, but the lower five panels are present and have been attached to the leather rebacking. Also present are the two original scivered & gilt-lettered spine labels. Condition: the outer hinges (front & rear) are starting near the top edges; the binding is generally scuffed & rubbed. The original endpapers have been replaced. Internally, in very good condition. Lacks Volume II. Illustrated with an engraved portrait of Murat and a fine folding map of "the countries between Paris & Moscow, showing the route of the French Army, in their disastrous campaign, 1812." Pages: 350.

The contents are clean and tight. The frontis. and title page of both volumes are foxed.
