Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1962, 261pp. Name written on front endpaper, else VG+ in VG+ dj. From the dj: "INNOCENT BIGAMY contains eleven stories, each dealing with a situation of social, economic or psychological significance. Each story presents vivid characters, some humorous, some pathetic, all understandable and, somehow, strangely unforgettable." The author, 1869-1968, was born in Tilfordsville, Kentucky. The family moved to Arkansas when she was very young. She graduated from the University of Nashville and taught for a few years in Texas and Boston. She returned to her native state and became one of Kentucky's best poetic dramatists. Ultimately, she settled in North Carolina and achieved her greatest success writing proletarian fiction. She wrote three novels under the pen name, Fielding Burke.
