Book
Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Reprint. Hardback. Previous owners name to inside cover. Foxing to end inside covers. Marks to cloth. Brown cloth with black lettering. The aim of the book is to present, in simple language and in a logical sequence, the basic principles of buidling mechanics. The temptation to enlarge unduly on certain topics has been resisted. An endeavour has been made to reduce the amount of mere arithmetical working in problems by selection of suitable data. The text is thoroughly interspersed with numerical examples and diagrams, the only effective method of sustaining interest and enthusiam. In addition to the exercises at chapter ends, a chapter is devoted to revision exampleds. To these examples abridged solutions are provided. Students preparing for the Intermediate examination of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the graduateship examinations of the Institution of Structural Engineers, the examinations of the Chartered Surveyors Institution, and similar examintions, should find the book helpful. The book has not been written to comply with any one set of building regulations. it has been necessary, however, to refer to typical regulations occasionally in order to demonstrate the relationship between theory and practice. 444 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).
