Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus. Bernard Waber (illustrator). Second Printing (Number Line to 2). Signed and Inscribed (To Lauren) by the author with a very cute drawing (see photo). This book is in very nice condition. You can take a look at the photos of the covers that I've provided. There are a few light and inconspicuous spots of soiling on the front. There really isn't anything in the way of wear. The corners, the edges and the spine ends all look very good. This book is also very solidly bound, no issues in that regard. At the top right-hand corner of the yellow first front end paper there is a penciled number (50) which someone unsuccessfully attempted to erase. That rubbed off some of the yellow there as well. Across the way at the top left-hand corner of the inside cover the previous owner neatly printed her name (Lauren Robinson). That's it for extraneous writing. There isn't anything written on any of the pages of the text. Such pages are in fact exceptionally clean. I didn't see any soiling. There aren't any markings or attachments. You'll see an occasional wrinkle or crinkle of the paper, very minor. I didn't see any turned down corners. The illustrations are terrific. As you can see from the photographs, the dust jacket is also in very nice condition. It is NOT price-clipped. The flaps appear to be in perfect and are very clean. The white front cover is cleaner than one might expect. There are couple of light spots and there is a very light impressed line to the left of Ira's head that comes down and crosses his chest. You may be able to make it out in the first photograph. There's a little bit of color in it, but it still doesn't stand out. The only tear is a tiny one off the top edge of the rear cover. There are also two small dark marks on the rear cover but otherwise it is quite clean. The spine of the jacket is in very good condition. All in all, both the book and the dust jacket look, as you can see, very nice. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. From the dust jacket flap 'Bernard Waber explores a milestone of childhood through his likable character Ira and his family and friends. His quiet prose and highly appealing art always ring true, and will touch anyone, young or old, who has had to say good-bye'. Bernard Waber's earlier Ira book, Ira Sleeps Over, published in 1972, was voted number 96 in the School Library Journal's Top 100 picture books in the 21st century list. Inscribed by Author(s).
