Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated Edition. This is a nice condition vintage bartender's guide, "Irvin S. Cobb's Own Recipe Book" from 1936. The book was written by Cobb for Frankfort Distilleries. Softcover with 51 numbered pages. The book features a two-page display of various liquor bottles in color, and numerous in-text illustrations (tinted blue). "Containing authoritative directions for making 71 famous drinks, together with a rollicking dissertation of the joys of King Bourbon and its Brother Rye, by the famous Kentuckian." Contents include Cocktails, Highballs, Juleps, Sours, Rickeys, Fizzes, Collinses, Daisies, Fixes, Slings, Punches, Smashes, Cobblers, Flips, Toddies, Hot Drinks, and Milk & Egg Drinks. Condition: The covers are clean with some some light tanning along the perimeters. The last page of the book and the back cover each have a 3/4" tear at the bottom edge. Tight binding with no loose page. Both covers and all pages are firmly in place. Nice interior - the pages are clean and appear unread with only a couple tiny foxing spots at the outer edge of pages 42 & 43. Overall the book is in Very Good+ condition.

Stiff paper wrap with titles and illustration in black and blue, saddle stapled: center spread detached, cover loosened on the staples. In the color illustrated dust jacket with Frankfort advertising on the flaps, back panel and verso: edges rubbed, short closed tears to spine ends, mellowed crease to front flap. The Kentucky native, prolific New York author and humorist "claims the right to deal with this pleasing subject," the more so as prohibition had just been repealed. Our copy retains the elusive, very ephemeral dust jacket, though it has seen better days. The rear flap is missing the coupon that you would clip to mail in for some kind of offer, and the edges are worn, with a few tears. Jacket also has some stains and spots, and general age. About Good condition in a Fair jacket. Hard to find (1934 was the First Edition, and later re-printed several times.).
