Signed
Hardcover. Condition: USED_VERYGOOD. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Signed and inscribed by the author on the blank first front end paper ( 'For Marilyn Hatch, With every good wish, Mary Luke' ). The covers of the book are in very nice condition. They are exceptionally clean, no soiling. The gilt lettering on the spine is bright. The six cover edges and four corners are in excellent condition. There is a little crinkling at the top and bottom edges of the spine. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. There is some very light amber spotting just off the top edge of a number of early pages. On the signed page there is also a amber colored thin vertical tracing of something (see photo). And the middle and bottom page edges show a little bit of this same amber spotting. The pages are exceptionally clean. I saw no more than two with a speck-sized spot on their blank outer margin. The pages are also in excellent shape. I found only one tiny crease at the tip of one corner and flattened it out. There are no markings in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And the signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere. The dust jacket is rated only Good mainly due to some wear off the top and bottom edges of the spine, the wear consisting of scuffing and a smallish tear and loss, both off the top edge. There's another small tear off the top edge of the rear cover. The covers are pretty clean, there's little bit of spotting off the top edge of the rear cover (fourth photo). The flaps are in solid shape, little crinkling off the top edges, some light, fairly inconspicuous spotting off the top edges as well. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I have it protected by a fitted cover. From the front flap of the jacket: 'In the beginning they were children studying in a little schoolroom under the eaves of a palace turret. One was a princess, another the eldest child of the king's close friend, the third the daughter of a Spanish noblewoman dear to the queen. History would know them as Mary Tudor, Katherine Parr and Kate Willoughby. They could hardly know then that fate would make two of them queens, the other a powerful duchess; they were a triumvirate for life.'. Inscribed by Author(s).
