Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. James Thurber (illustrator). Hardcover. Stated Special Printing published by Simon and Schuster, NYC, in 1946. Slipcased. The book itself is in Very Good condition save for toned spine and some light staining along the front hinge. All corners are sharp and there is no harm to either head or foot of the spine. The text top is stained in a lime green, the endpapers are a dark blue. The book is bound in a beige linen with the spine stamped in a now-faded red. The front cover is blind-stamped in the same design that decorates the slipcase. The slipcase--also that lime green with black and red lettering over white design--is in Good condition save for bumped corners and rubbing on the back and a loss of about 1" of paper at top right and light staining along the bottom. The slipcase is, however, intact, unsplit. Then, there are his wonderful drawings that accompany Thurber's tales.
