Pas de couverture. Condition: Très bon. Dust Jacket Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. Description : Technique de l'image : estampe. - eau-forte.

Sehr seltene komplette Folge von 6 Kupferstichen von Jean Le Pautre. -- Blatt-Maße: ca. 20 x 29,5 cm. -- gut erhalten. || Very rare complete series of 6 engravings by Jean Le Pautre. -- in very good condition. || Jean Le Pautre (1618-1682), also known as Lepautre, was a French ornament engraver and designer, one of the most imaginative French artists of the 17th century. He was the older brother of the architect Antoine Le Pautre, the father of engravers Pierre Le Pautre and Jacques Le Pautre, and the uncle of sculptor Pierre Lepautre. As an apprentice to a carpenter and builder, he developed good mechanical skills, while also learning the basics of drawing. He created a plethora of designs for ceilings, friezes, chimney-pieces, doorways, and mural decorations, as well as beautiful furniture pieces such as sideboards, cabinets, console tables, and mirrors. Jean Le Pautre worked for a long time at the Gobelins manufactory a historic tapestry fabric in Paris -, and his work was characterized by flamboyant and elaborate designs. He frequently incorporated motifs such as amorini and swags, arabesques, and cartouches. However, his chimney-pieces were often simple and elegant. He engraved various original plates, including a self-portrait, and made many designs for famous French cabinetmaker and artist Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1732). He also produced classical historical and biblical narrative scenes, portraits, broadsheets, business cards, and depictions of festive occasions. In 1677, he became a member of the French Academy. Le Pautre created over 1500 prints, nearly all of which were based on his own designs, and spread the full range of Louis XIV's style across Europe. Sprache: Französisch Gewicht in Gramm: 50.
