Hardcover. 291p., nice copy of this less-common title; see our "series" description below. Condition is excellent, with merely one turned corner-tip, and a tiny dent to tail rim, while its dust jacket is edgeworn with numerous small tears. Number 7 in the Collected Works series; small volumes (7.5x4.5 inches) hardbound in moss-green cloth boards spine-titled with transverse gilt line decoration, very pretty. The ugly dust jacket may be intentionally so, and is to be thrown (that's just our guess).

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Thus. JESTING PILATE The Diary of A Journey. Aldous Huxley. Evergreen Books, London. 1940 First Thus 256pp Paperback. This copy is in very good condition with some inevitable age toning to the page edges. A truly learned and reasonable man, Huxley is at turns inspiring, funny, admiring and scathing. His description of India is dead-on, and it exquisitely captures that mixture of pity, contempt, understanding and reverence that the open minded Westerner comes to feel for Indian life. The book is a wholly admirable exercise in the broadening of an already open mind. Ref S7.
