Item Description: J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, London, 1971. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Dust jacket complete, Dent net pricing sticker on flap, corner clipped. Black cloth with bright gilt titling on spine. 251 pages clean and tight. Critics all over the world agree that the books in Mrs Robert Henrey's famous quartet-The Little Madeleine, her girlhood in Paris; Madeleine Grown Up, her London love story; Madeleine Young Wife, war and peace on her farm in Normandy and London Under Fire 1940-4 S, with her baby during the raids, rank amongst the great books of the present century. C. E. Vulliamy said of The Little Madeleine in the Spectator: 'I do not know of a single autobiography which can be said to surpass it.' Orville Prescott said of Madeleine Grown Up in the New York Times: 'A rosy glow of bubbling youthfulness, high spirits and romance suffuses every page. That the mature Mrs Henrey can recapture the emotion of the young Madeleine so perfectly is something of a literary miracle.' And the Chicago Tribune of these books: 'There is nothing about the little Madeleine one does not want to know.' Size: 8vo. Bookseller Inventory # 121559
