Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Kit Brandon is the story of a young woman and her life in the " primitive mountains" and her escape to a life of excitement with a band of bootleggers. Kit is the daughter of a moonshiner. Early in life she runs away from the primitive mountain life to the newer and more complicated America of the valley mill towns, and this novel is her odyssey, the physical wandering and mental groping of a girl who works in cotton mills and shoe factories and " five and dime" running up against al kinds, learning to love the machines she tends, learning to wear silk stockings and good clothes instead of the shapeless garb of the mountain folk, learning to love the speed and shine and power of fast motor cars, acquiring as she goes along a shrewd, hard but brave and totally American philosophy. The book is in fine and bright condition with slight toning to interior boards and fep and lep, with a Very good jacket which shows wear and repairs to spine ends. Spine is faded. Folds show wear. All in all, a nice cover over a fine very clean copy of one of Sherwood Anderson's best.Jacket is unclipped ($2.50). This is a fine and special first edition with a Scribner "A", collectible suitable for any good library. Protected in Mylar. Size: 7.5x5.25.
