Barbagli's Circulating Library" applicato al piatto anteriore Paolo Morello (Palermo, 1809-1873) fu uno dei padri dell'omeopatia italiana. Personaggio di vastissimi interessi culturali, si laureò in medicina nella città natale nel 1834. Fu volontario a Curtatone e Montanara, ove fu fatto prigioniero. Nel settembre del 1848 si recò a Firenze, ove visse alcuni anni propagandando la medicina omeopatica, di cui era un fiero assertore, ed insegnando privatamente filosofia (tra i suoi allievi è da annoverarsi il critico letterario Alessandro D'Ancona). In seguito fu ordinario nell'Università di Palermo, tenendo diverse cattedre: storia della medicina, filosofia della storia, diritto internazionale. Il presente testo, in prima edizione, raccoglie in forma epistolare alla moglie Agatina le sue memorie durante la prigionia a Praga dal maggio al settembre 1848 250 gr.
