Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This offering is an older copy of Lima - the History written by Eric Hirsimaki and illustrated with many older black-and-white photographs . . . with no credit mentioned (that I can find) of photographer(s). The book was published by Hundman Publishing Inc. in 1986 and appears to be a First Edition though it is not specifically stated as such. It is NOT an ex-library copy and the book is in very good condition while the dust jacket is only in good condition. It is not a small book - 8 5/8" by 11" by 1 3/8" and has 351 pages with a Table of Contents - and hundreds of older black-and-white photographs along with prose and explanations of the photographs. It is an extremely well done effort by both editor/writer and photographer. MOST of the book details the activity of the railroad and in particular - Lima's part in the locomotive manufactured in Lima. "This is the story of a locomotive builder and its relationship with many through its various products. To the railroader - Lima was the "Super Power" steam locomotive. To the industrial locomotive user - Lima was the Shay. To the contractor Lima meant shovels and cranes. There was one common link - however - and that was the quality of the products manufactured tn this rural northwestern Ohio town." The book DOES have the name of a previous owner printed neatly at the top of the front loose end page. Thanks for looking!.
